Household Collections

Electrical and textiles

Recycle the following items little and often by bagging them separately and leaving them next to your food caddy:

  • Textiles (shoes & clothing) - Clean, dry and suitable for reuse.
  • Small household electrical items - these could be broken or not suitable for reuse.
  • Household batteries - please ensure batteries are securely bagged to prevent spillage.

The food waste crews are able to collect these items every week on collection day.

During wet weather, we recommend double bagging textiles to ensure they remain clean and dry.

What we cannot collect

  • This service is for small quantities of household textiles, small electricals items and household batteries.
  • Do not leave light bulbs out for collection
  • If you have larger items these should be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre for reuse or recycling.

Tips for a smooth collection

Please be aware there is limited space on the vehicle so please do not present anything larger than a standard carrier bag for collection.

  • Present bagged items next to your food caddy.
  • Label the bags (textiles/electricals/batteries) to help the collection crew.
  • Ensure bags are securely tied to contain contents.
