Climate Change Strategy
Reducing our impact on the climate will permeate all of our activities and functions and we will also seek to change behaviour; from personal to Government level. This strategy’s objectives are as follows.
Our main aim is to make all Council operations carbon net zero by 2030.
As well as this we will aim to align climate change actions and environmental improvements with economic gain.
We will work towards updating our procurement strategy and reduce energy consumption in our buildings and Council homes.
We will encourage public transport use and reduce household and commercial waste, encourage recycling and minimise plastic use
Providing or enabling sufficient numbers of electric vehicle charging points and embracing hydrogen-based fuel technologies as they develop will also support our aims.
