Scoping consultation

The new Local Plan will set out the new planning framework for the Runnymede area. 

This scoping consultation provides an opportunity for you to have your say on what the new Local Plan should cover, and how best to engage with you going forward.

At this early stage of plan-making, we are seeking views on: 

  1. Which matters you think are relevant to the preparation of the Local Plan, including what the plan should contain; and
  2. How we should engage with you in the preparation of the Local Plan. 

How to get involved

The consultation material is presented across several web pages, organised by topic area, and including a series of questions. The consultation material is also available to download as a pdf document.

Your response to these questions, and any other issues you may wish to raise, should ideally be submitted using the online representation form (‘response form’). This allows us to gather feedback in one place, and analyse your comments more effectively.

The scoping consultation material should take about an hour to read, and responses should be submitted by 11.59pm on Monday 12 October 2026. You do not necessarily have to comment on the whole document.

Please note that we cannot accept anonymous comments.

A series of drop-in events will be held across Runnymede, where you can meet the Planning Policy team and discuss the consultation.

  • Tuesday 15 September 2026, 11am-1pm, Chertsey Hall, Heriot Road, Chertsey
  • Thursday 17 September 2026, 6pm-8pm, Runnymede Civic Centre, Station Road, Addlestone
  • Tuesday 29 September 2026, 4pm-6pm, Virginia Water Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, Virginia Water

Call for Sites and Local Green Space Nominations

At the same time, we are also running a ‘Call for Sites’ and ‘Local Green Space’ nomination exercise. The Call for Sites is an opportunity for you to suggest sites for a range of different uses, including for housing and economic development, but also sites for other uses such as community uses, renewable energy provision and biodiversity. The new Local Plan also has the ability to designate green spaces which are important to local communities as ‘Local Green Space’, providing certain criteria are met, and we are seeking suggestions.
