Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan

Thorpe Neighbourhood Forum: Redesignation application

On 24 August 2016 members of Runnymede Borough Council Planning Committee resolved to designate The Thorpe Neighbourhood Forum and to designate the Thorpe Neighbourhood Area.

The designation of a neighbourhood area lasts for five years and consequently this designation expired on 23 August 2021. The Council has received an application to re-designate the Forum (for the avoidance of doubt, the area covered by the Forum remains unchanged from the one covered by the adopted (made) Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan).

The application to redesignate the Forum (and a copy of the constitution, which is also unaltered from the one submitted previously) is attached below, together with a map showing the extent of the Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan and the Forum’s constitution (which is also unaltered from the one previously agreed):

In line with The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, the Council is required to publicise the application for six weeks, during which time representations can be made in relation to the proposed re-designation of the Thorpe Neighbourhood Forum. This period runs from Wednesday 30 July 2025 to 11 September 2025.

Representations can be made by emailing to planning policy team

or Writing to Planning Policy Team
Runnymede Borough Council,
Runnymede Civic Centre,

A decision on whether to designate (or not) the Forum will need to made within 13 weeks of the application being publicised. This would therefore need to be done by 29 October 2025. A formal statement in relation to this can be seen below:

Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan was adopted on 30 June 2021.

In accordance with Regulation 20 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Runnymede Borough Council has formally 'made' (adopted) the Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan.  From the 30 June 2021 it will form part of the statutory development plan for Runnymede. The plan will be used alongside the Runnymede Local Plan 2030, Policy NRM6 of the South East Plan, Surrey County Minerals and Waste Plans to determine planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

The plan includes policies on a range of matters including site allocations, supporting the development of the Tasis School, house mix, design, heritage assets, green and blue infrastructure, local green space and community facilities.

The referendum result was that 471 voters were in favour of the plan, and 82 against. Therefore, the plan has been approved. The adopted Neighbourhood Plan can be viewed at PDF icon to indicate a PDF file 2021 Thorpe Neighbourhood Plan
