Runnymede Grows

Grow carrots

Runnymede Borough Council has launched an exciting initiative to get more people in Runnymede growing their own fruit, vegetables and herbs!

We are partnering with Pot Gang to provide Runnymede residents with FREE taster packs to start people off on their growing journeys.

Each pack contains: Three types of fruit, veg or herb seed appropriate for the time of year, compost and the equipment needed to grow your seeds and step by step growing guides.

Complete the online form to request your free kit. You will then be provided with a unique code to allow you to apply for your taster pack on the Pot Gang website.

Request your free kit

Only Runnymede residents are eligible to claim the free growing kits. Only one kit per household is permitted.

No outdoor space? The Council has 150 windowsill growing kits available which will contain things like cress, beansprouts and microgreens. You can indicate that you would like a windowsill pack in the form above.

For the remaining growing packs, the following seeds are expected to be available during each month of the campaign.

  • April: Green Zebra Tomatoes, Lemon Chillies, Thyme
  • May: Cucumbers, Aubergines, Mint
  • June: Patty Pans, Spinach, Oregano
  • July: Carrots, Lettuce, Radishes
  • August: Pak Choi, Rocket, Thai Basil
  • September: Red Onions, Broad Beans, Winter Salad
  • October: Purple Cauliflower, Peas, Beansprouts
  • November: Garlic, Shallots, Pea Shoots
  • December: Chocolate Chillies, Orange Peppers, Rosemary
  • January: Alpine Strawberries, Potatoes, Chives
  • February: Honeycomb Tomatoes, Golden Courgettes, Spring Onions

The windowsill boxes contain cress, bean sprouts and pea shoots all year round.

The unique codes for the taster packs are available on a first come first serve basis. This webpage will be updated when all the taster packs have been allocated. All boxes must be ordered by 28 February 2027. A waiting list will be held, and any boxes which remain unclaimed following 28 February 2027 will be allocated to those on the waiting list (by date added to the waiting list).

We would love to hear updates during your growing journey. Please share your pictures on our Instagram and facebook pages with the hashtag #RunnymedeGrows
