On 9 May 2025, Surrey’s district and borough councils submitted their final proposals for local government reorganisation to the Government, following a series of public council meetings held between 29 April 2025 and 8 May 2025.
Nine district and borough councils support the formation of three unitary Councils aimed at preserving local democracy, enhancing accountability, and aligning new Councils with Surrey’s existing economic and community identities.
