Information for property managers

Queries or issues relating to flats, apartments or other properties with shared facilities should be directed to the property manager or management company. 

Bin store areas must be safe for all users. Management companies or property managers are expected to ensure that the bin store or designated collection point fulfils the following basic requirements. 

  • Suitable hardstanding 
  • Appropriate surface between bin storage and vehicle access point 
  • Sufficient lighting & security

The household service consists of a weekly food waste collection and fortnightly recycling and refuse, as per the bin collection schedule.

To ensure collections take place as scheduled, please make sure:

  • All waste is placed inside the bins (not on the floor or blocking access).
  • Bin lids are fully closed, with no overfilled or overflowing bins.
  • Access to the bin store is clear (e.g., no parked cars or bulky items obstructing the area).

Incorrect or unacceptable content 

If the contents of a bin are not correct or acceptable, it may not be emptied.  

  • Incorrect content includes packaging items placed in the food waste bin or incorrect items placed in the dry mixed recycling bin(s). If the incorrect items are removed the bin will be emptied on the next scheduled collection. 
  • Unacceptable content covers items/materials that we cannot collect because they are hazardous or will cause damage to the collection vehicle. 
  • The management company or property manager will have to arrange for collection, (using licenced waste collector) and disposal at an appropriately licenced facility.
