What can or cannot go in the bin

What can go in your garden waste bin 

Only loose garden waste may be placed in the garden waste bin. Please do not place garden waste in plastic bags or any other packaging.  

  • Grass cuttings 
  • Weeds 
  • Leaves 
  • Prunings and hedge trimmings 
  • Twigs and small branches 
  • Cut flowers and plants 
  • Fallen fruit (make sure the bin is not too heavy as we will not be able to empty it) 

What cannot go in your bin 

The following items must not be put into the garden waste bin:

  • Plastic bags or sacks 
  • Plastic flowerpots 
  • Large branches and wood/timber 
  • Rubble and stones 
  • Animal/pet waste (e.g. used bedding) 
  • Invasive non-native (alien) plant species: including Japanese knotweed 

You will be required to pay the full amount no matter what time of year you sign up. If you subscribe early you will benefit from the maximum number of collections.

If you decide to cancel your subscription during the year we are unable to offer a refund.

If you move house within Runnymede you can take your garden waste bins with you. Find out more about moving your garden waste subscription

If you have an active subscription for the garden waste collection service and your bin is lost or stolen use the online form to order a replacement bin. Bins will be replaced free of charge.
