We investigate cases of suspected food poisoning where we have sufficient information.
When someone becomes ill with sickness and/or diarrhoea it may be symptoms of foodborne illness, a viral infection (foodborne or otherwise) or some other cause.
The most effective way of finding out whether it is food poisoning is for the patient to provide a faecal sample for testing. Whilst this is a very unpleasant it is essential in identifying whether a food poisoning bug is to blame.
If a group of people have eaten together and subsequently show signs of food poisoning please email environmentalhealth@runnymede.gov.uk or call 01932 838383.
