Pay your Council Tax

Direct Debit

You can set up a Direct Debit for your Council Tax by signing up for a Runnymede OneAccount. We will give you at least 10 days’ notice before we take the first payment.

Setting up a Direct Debit payment is the safest and most convenient way to pay your Council Tax.

If you are unable to set up a Direct Debit online you can also call our customer services team on 01932 838383.

You can choose to make your payments from four different payment dates which are either the 1st, 8th, 15th, or the 22nd of each month.

You can update your bank details for an existing Direct Debit should you already pay your Council Tax using this method.

If you are moving within the borough of Runnymede, we will transfer your Direct Debit over to the new property.

Transactions will appear on your bank account as "RUNNYMEDE BOROUGH" with your account number as the mandate reference. For your information, our service user number is 990865.

You can cancel your Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank or building society, but you will also need to notify us as to why you are cancelling so that we can update your account. Bacs Direct Debit collections are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

  • This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits

  • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Runnymede Borough Council will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Runnymede Borough Council to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request

  • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Runnymede Borough Council or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society

  • If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Runnymede Borough Council asks you to.

  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
