Think about what you buy
Reducing waste is as important as recycling.
Food is a good example. Planning can often help you save money and reduce waste. The SEP have a few hits and tips to help reduce food waste including how to keep food fresh for longer.
Do not forget about the weekly food waste collection service. This will be processed to produce compost and electricity!
Divert items for reuse where possible
For large items suitable for reuse such as sofas, beds and wardrobes Kingston Community Furniture Project will collect. There is a charge for this service
Check what can be recycled
Recycling information and tips should help you recycle correctly. A huge range of household items can be recycled but it is also important to know what cannot be recycled. The recycling in your blue/blue lidded bin should always be clean, dry and loose. The Recycling Search Tool can provide a useful lookup if you are unsure about an item.
