What we can and cannot collect

Electrical and textiles

Here are some examples of the items that we can collect; 

Small electrical items Textiles (clean/dry) 
CD/DVD players, Radios, speakers Belts
Clocks, watches, alarm clocks and cameras Blankets
Games consoles Clothing
Hair dryers, straighteners and clippers Duvet covers
Hand-held vacuum cleaners Handbags
Household batteries (bag separately) Hats
Irons Paired shoes
Kitchen appliances e.g. Kettles, toasters etc Pillowcases
Laptops Sheets
Small battery powered toys Towels
Telephones and mobile phone Wellington boots
Electrical items & batteries 

We cannot collect the following; 

  • Light bulbs (please remove & dispose of appropriately) 
  • Lamp shades 
  • Items larger than a standard carrier bag (e.g. microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners) 
  • Car batteries 

Please ensure that you do not place batteries or electrical items in your refuse bin.  

Textiles 

We cannot collect the following; 

  • Wet or dirty items 
  • Fabric off cuts  
  • Clothing unsuitable for reuse (ripped or damaged items) 
  • Single shoes or socks 
  • Pillows 
  • Duvets 
  • Pet beds 
  • Rugs/carpets/mats
