The Runnymede Community Planning Panel

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how the Council intends to involve and engage with the local community and stakeholders in the preparation of all planning policy documents (including the Local Plan) and during the Development Management process (e.g. during the consideration of planning applications).

The document sets out the minimum level of consultation that will be undertaken by the Council in each case, as well as the range of additional consultation/engagement techniques which can be/are already utilised by the Council.

Statement of Community Involvement public consultation

Runnymede Borough Council is currently consulting on several proposed revisions to its Statement of Community Involvement [SCI] which was previously adopted in March 2021.

The Statement of Community Involvement [SCI] sets out how the Council intends to involve and engage with the local community and stakeholders during the preparation of all planning policy documents (including the Local Plan) and during the Development Management process (e.g. during the consideration of planning applications).

Amongst other things, the document contains information on the minimum level of consultation that will be undertaken by the Council for different types of document/application, the range of additional consultation/engagement techniques which can be/are already utilised by the Council, and how interested parties can make representations.

The consultation was open from Wednesday 3 January 2024 to Wednesday 14 February 2024 (11:59pm). The Council is specifically seeking views on its proposal to amend the digital format of representations which it will accept in response to planning consultations from email to standardised web form.

Background information on why this change in approach is felt to be necessary is contained in the Planning Committee agenda of 20 December 2023 (agenda item 6)

Extracts from the adopted SCI which show the proposed amendments can be viewed below
