Runnymede Borough Council is taking steps to improve the management of the privately-operated Waitrose car park in Egham, after identifying issues around administration and customer service.
These relate to the way Parking Charge Notices (PCNs) were previously issued and administered by the contractor responsible for enforcement. These have included delays in responding to residents, inconsistent processes, and incomplete recovery of historic charges.
To ensure fairness and accuracy, the Council is undertaking a one-off review of number of historic PCNs. Residents affected will receive a letter offering an opportunity to pay or challenge their case before any further action is taken.
This review is to improve recordkeeping and ensure the system is transparent, to ensure car park operates fairly for all users.
