Parkside regeneration

The concept of replacing some of the properties in the Parkside area of New Haw has been discussed in the past. A major project is underway to explore the options that a regeneration could bring to the area.

At this stage we are not able to say that the regeneration of the area will definitely be possible. It may be that some of the sites we are exploring are easier to regenerate than others. Until we have explored the options further, we will not know.

It is true to say that compared to when we started the project the regeneration does now look more likely.

Projects of this scale are complex and take time to assess and plan. The Council is working with Ridge a consultancy that specialises in this type of large scale project.

Ridge have carried out a significant number of surveys and assessments of the Parkside area, such as the risk of flooding, ground conditions, traffic and highways, and many others. Members of the Council’s Housing Committee and Council Officers remain in control the project, steering progress based upon the findings of the reports that come from this work.

We are using the information from the surveys to inform our plans. This will include further investigations and assessing how many new homes would work over the sites.

It is very important that we obtain the views of the public and other stakeholders, especially those who will be directly impacted if the regeneration goes ahead. Information about how to engage in the process will be published in time.
