Recycling FAQs

Please remove the incorrect items. Your recycling can then be collected on the next scheduled collection.

Plastic carrier bags cannot be put in the recycling bin as they are not accepted at the recycling sorting plant. We suggest that you use carrier bags to contain your food waste which must be put in the separate green food caddy for collection every week

Please rinse out and remove food and drink residue from containers before putting them in your recycling bin as it can contaminate the materials and make them unsuitable for recycling. Put recycling loose in the bin.

If you are not sure if you can recycle an item, you can find out what to do with it by using the search tool which allows Surrey residents to find out which bin an item should go in where they live. A user enters their home postcode and searches for items they are considering throwing away to find out what to do with them.
