Other ways to dispose of bulky waste
Do you have a large bulky item such as a bed, sofa or an electrical appliance, for example a fridge, which is still in a good or usable condition? You may want to consider passing it on for reuse or recycling rather than it going to landfill.
You can dispose of bulky items at the Household Waste Recycling Centre
Donate to a charity
- if the item is in good condition
- if the item has been stored indoors or undercover
- if an electrical appliance, it is fully working
- if an upholstered item, it has a red or blue fire label attached
If the item complies with the above points, then a charity may accept the donation. A small charge may be made for collection but some offer a free collection service.
Other options your can offer your items online
- Gumtree
- Freecycle
- Freegle
- Preloved
- supermarket notice boards
- newspapers
