Small grants opportunity for schools and community groups
As part of the Runnymede Grows campaign, the Council offered one off grants to schools and community groups to allow the establishment of food growing initiatives or to expand existing initiatives. This grant funding scheme aims to make a positive difference to the borough by supporting the vital work of schools and local organisations in supporting wider communities to realise the benefits associated with growing fresh produce. Grants were limited to £500 per school/community organisation with at least 20 awards being made by the Council.
The Council is pleased to announce that 20 awards have now been made with a total value of £9,791.59. The schools and organisations provided with funding through this programme are set out in the table below along with a brief description of the initiatives being progressed. At this time, all funding available through the programme has been allocated and we are very excited to share the outcomes of the campaign in the coming months.

The Village Centre |
The Runnymede Grows funding will be used to increase growing space by adding vertical growing for food for the community kitchen, plus encourage wildlife by adding a small pond, water station and plants. |

The Runnymede Grows monies will partially fund the creation of an eco green space with raised beds, rainwater harvesting system and associated infrastructure. |
