About shop front grants

Shop fronts

Runnymede Borough Council has been allocated funding by the UK Government’s - Shared Prosperity Fund to improve the vibrancy and vitality of its towns.

As part of the improvements which will focus on Guildford Street, the council will aim to support local high street-based businesses in Chertsey with Business Frontage Improvements Grants.

The Business Frontage Improvements Grants aim to make Chertsey Town Centre a more desirable place for businesses, visitors, investors and local people, by restoring and enhancing the local character of the town centre area.

The condition of the business frontage improvement grant has to demonstrate a major impact on people’s impression of an area and show a significant contribution to improving residents’ pride of place and ultimately increasing footfall in town centres.

Runnymede Borough Council are therefore offering grants of up to £20,000 for businesses primarily on Guildford Street but also London Street and Windsor Street, to make improvements to their shopfronts to enhance the overall look of the town centre.

Grant funding will reimburse businesses for the cost of work undertaken before 1 March 2025. Applications for grant funding must meet the criteria. Grant applications will be awarded on a first come first served basis.
