Runnymede Borough Council Grant Funding for new or expanded food growing projects
Background
Runnymede Borough Council is offering one off grants to schools and community groups to allow the establishment of food growing initiatives or to expand existing initiatives. Grants are limited to £500 per school/community organisation. At least 20 awards will be made by the Council.
The grants will initially be prioritised for the borough’s primary and secondary schools, however community organisations (voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations delivering services in the borough) are also able to complete this application form and will be eligible to secure funding should the monies being offered not be taken up by the borough’s schools in full.
The deadline for applications is Friday 17 April 2026 with applicants being advised if their applications have been successful by Thursday 30 April 2026, with funding awards being made shortly after. Completed forms should be emailed to climatechange@runnymede.gov.uk
All applications will be reviewed by a panel of council officers before funding awards are made. A grant agreement will need to be signed by successful applicants.
The scheme aims to make a positive difference to the borough by supporting the vital work of schools and local organisations in supporting wider communities to realise the benefits associated with growing fresh produce.
Any grant monies awarded would need to be spent in full by 31 December 2026 (although the project itself does not have to be delivered by this date).
If this funding opportunity is oversubscribed, the Council will give priority to initiatives that:
- Are fully funded
- Would fund longer term initiatives
- Are assessed to have the strongest benefits
- Would have the greatest reach.
