Playground and Outdoor Recreation Improvements
We are excited to be delivering a wide range of improvements to playgrounds and outdoor recreation facilities across Runnymede.
Over the coming months, work will take place at a number of locations across the borough, including playground renovations, outdoor gym installations, new trim trails, improvements to basketball facilities and the installation of sensory play boards.
While some areas may need to close temporarily during the works, we will provide as much notice as possible and keep residents updated on reopening dates.

Edgell Close Playground, Virginia Water
Work starting: Monday 10 August 2026
Estimated duration: Approximately 5 weeks
The playground will temporarily close from 10 August 2026.
Gogmore Park MUGA, Chertsey
Work starting: Monday 17 August 2026
Estimated duration: Approximately 8 working days
The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at Gogmore Park will be temporarily closed while the work takes place.
Murray House Playground, Ottershaw
Work dates: To be confirmed
Abbey Fields Playground, Chertsey
Work dates: To be confirmed
Frank Muir Memorial Field Playground, Thorpe
Work dates: To be confirmed
More Improvements Coming Across Runnymede
Alongside the projects above, we are also preparing to deliver a further programme of improvements to outdoor recreation facilities across the borough.
More information, including designs, locations, construction dates and closure information, will be added to this page as the projects progress.
Victory Park Playground, Addlestone
Exciting plans are underway to improve the playground at Victory Park.
Following engagement with local children, families and residents, feedback will help inform the improvements to this popular playground.
Three New Outdoor Exercise Gyms
Three outdoor gym projects are planned across the borough, providing more opportunities for residents to exercise and be active outdoors.
The outdoor gyms will be located at:
- Manorcroft Park, Egham
- Gogmore Park, Chertsey
- Ottershaw Memorial Fields
Two New Trim Trails
Two new trim trails are planned as part of our outdoor recreation improvement programme. The new facilities will provide additional opportunities residents to enjoy physical activity outdoors.
The trim trails will be located at:
- Chertsey Recreation Ground
- Either Hill Ottershaw
Sensory Play Boards
New sensory play boards will be installed at locations across Runnymede.
The boards will provide additional opportunities for sensory and interactive play and help make our outdoor spaces more engaging and inclusive for children and families.
