Have your say on Draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement

Residents in Runnymede are invited to take part in the Government's consultation on the Draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS).

The consultation, launched by the Department for Transport on 18 June 2026, seeks views on proposed changes to the national planning policy framework that would guide decisions on the future expansion of Heathrow Airport through the delivery of a Northwest Runway scheme.

The draft policy, proposed to be renamed the Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS), sets out the Government's position on Heathrow expansion and the planning considerations that any future development consent application would need to address. These include economic growth, transport infrastructure, climate change, air quality, noise, and other environmental and social impacts.

As a borough within Heathrow's wider area of influence, Runnymede residents may have particular interests in issues such as aircraft noise, traffic impacts, public transport connections, air quality, environmental considerations, and economic opportunities associated with any future airport expansion.

The consultation provides an opportunity for local residents, businesses, and organisations to help inform the Government's review of Heathrow expansion policy. Anyone wishing to contribute is encouraged to review the proposals and submit responses before 11:59pm on 1 September 2026.
