The SWEP (Severe Weather Emergency Protocol) is designed to provide those experiencing rough sleeping with emergency temporary accommodation during severe weather.
Our protocol was designed in line with government guidance.
SWEP is being triggered in the Runnymede Borough from 22/06/2026 until 26/06/2026 due to Hot Weather conditions. All those sleeping rough within the Borough can access emergency temporary accommodation during this period. When the protocol is activated, anyone who is experiencing rough sleeping within the Borough can contact us to access emergency accommodation whilst the protocol is active, regardless of their eligibility under homelessness legislation.
To access the SWEP provision, those rough sleeping should contact Runnymede Borough Council Housing Solutions Team on 01932 838383. An out-of-hours service is also available on this number.
If you are concerned about someone who is rough sleeping, please visit StreetLink to report your concerns which will be sent directly to our Outreach services.
