Additional financial hardship support available for Runnymede residents

Runnymede Borough Council has made a further £50,000 available to help residents facing serious financial hardship, to deal with the rising cost of living.

The Runnymede Residents Support Fund provides short-term emergency financial assistance to residents in difficulty, to support those who may not qualify for existing Government schemes but still need immediate help to prevent their situation from worsening.

Eligible households can receive help with day-to-day living costs, including food and energy bills, for households with an annual income below £38,300, and savings of less than £6,000.

The cost of school uniforms can be met by a £150 one-off payment before September, and crisis payments of up to £2000 can be made available for households affected by a sudden emergency or personal crisis. Payments will be made by way of store vouchers.

Eligible households in the greatest need will be nominated to the fund by Council benefits staff, and will be assessed alongside partners such as Citizens Advice, Adult Social Care, and the Council’s Housing and Revenues teams.
