Runnymede invests in communities to 2027

Runnymede is investing more than £300,000 a year in support for local groups and residents through to March 2027, as part of the Grant Aid Policy 2025-27.

Preparation is underway for the launch of the new Runnymede Community Grant Scheme, offering up to £5,000 per project.

Meanwhile, the Englefield Green Small Grant Scheme opens on 10 October 2025, supporting grassroots projects that benefit local people.

In 2026-27, core support continues for Addlestone Community Centre, Citizens Advice Runnymede & Spelthorne, Runnymede Access Liaison Group and Voluntary Support North Surrey.

The programme also commits £20,000 a year to support children and young people experiencing hardship. A Community Events Grant will run with awards up to £750, and £17,300 is set aside for Christmas lights and trees.

Cllr Abby King, Chair of the Community Services Committee, said:

“We’re committed to making sure every young person in Runnymede feels included, supported, and able to thrive. Through the Grant Aid Policy and targeted funding like the Youth Development Fund, we’re levelling the playing field especially for disabled children and those facing barriers to participation. This is about creating opportunities that matter and ensuring no one is left behind.”

The policy sets out a clear and fair way to apply, with published criteria, one application window and consistent assessment by an officer panel before councillors make final decisions.

Support already in place continues too, including the Period Poverty project extended to March 2027 with an extra £5,000 and rent support for organisations in council buildings at current levels until 31 March 2027.

We’ll publish how to apply for the Runnymede Community Grant Scheme once final preparations are complete.
