The Mayor of Runnymede has issued a message following the death of the Duchess of Kent.
“Today I would like to pay tribute to the Duchess of Kent, who was a long standing member of our Royal Family.
The Duchess gave many years of public service to this country, often unrecognised, but always with dignity. As one of a now past generation of hard working Royal women, she will be missed as a role model and good example to society.
Her legacy will live on in Runnymede through people's memories, and in the Duchess of Kent wing at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
I send condolences to the Duke of Kent and all members of the Royal Family.”
The Union flag outside the Civic Centre will be flying at half mast for a short period to mark the Duchess’s passing.
