Celebrating Runnymede’s Businesses

Runnymede Business Awards

The first Runnymede Business Awards were held on Friday 26 May 2023 at the Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel. The awards ceremony celebrated inspirational businesses and entrepreneurs.

Following more than 75 nominations, judges shortlisted 19 businesses across seven different categories. Mark Adams, Chair of Business Runnymede said:

I was really impressed, not only by the number of entries but also the outstanding depth and quality of the submissions.

The judges awarded MGN Events as overall Business of the Year. Mike Walker, Managing Director of MGN Events said:

What an incredible moment for MGN Events! We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to be the proud recipients of not just one, but two prestigious business awards. It's hard to put into words how grateful we are to the organisers of the Runnymede Business Awards for acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and sheer awesomeness of our team. These awards are true testament to their unwavering passion, creativity, and innovative spirit.

Across the seven categories many worthy businesses were recognised as Highly Commended, with the winners being:

  • HeBrews Community Café, Addlestone (Community Hero Award)
  • Krav Generation (Start-up of the Year)
  • Ron Hayes & Son, New Haw (Best Neighbourhood Business)
  • Just Relish, Chertsey (Best Town Centre Business)
  • Stanhope-Seta (Business Innovation of the Year)
  • MGN Events (Growth Award)
  • St George’ Weybridge (Sustainability Award)

Cllr Tom Gracey, Leader of the Council said:

Runnymede is ranked as the most competitive borough in the UK outside of London. We have fantastic business and entrepreneurs in the borough. The borough is home to large tech companies, and centres of innovation with Royal Holloway, University of London and the Animal and Plant Health Agency, and many fantastic small businesses in our town centres and neighbourhoods. It is important that we celebrate and raise awareness of the contribution businesses play to our economy and the wellbeing of our communities.

 

The council will continue to work with local companies and our partners to make Runnymede great place for business. am delighted to announce that we will be launching later this year our new Business Growth and Innovation Service. Funded with the Shared Prosperity Fund and working in partnership with Royal Holloway University of London, this new service will provide free mentoring, advice and financial assistance to help small and micro businesses succeed and grow.
