Household Energy Payment

The Government has announced a one-off £100 Household Energy Payment to help eligible households with rising energy costs.

The payment is expected to be available to households living in properties in Council Tax bands A to D that are occupied as a sole or main residence.

The Government has advised that councils are expected to begin making payments from January 2027. Full guidance, including eligibility criteria and payment arrangements, is due to be issued shortly.

At this stage, we are awaiting further details from the Government on:

  • Who will qualify for the payment
  • How payments will be made
  • What residents will need to do, if anything, to receive the payment
  • Arrangements for households who may require additional support through the Government's discretionary funding

We are unable to confirm eligibility or payment arrangements until the Government publishes the full scheme guidance.

We will update this page as soon as further guidance is received.
