Cremation

Runnymede Borough Council manages four cemeteries within the borough where cremated remains may be interred. A selection of plot sizes is available, subject to availability at the time of booking.

Cremated Remains Plot Options

• Standard Plot (4’ x 4’): Accommodates up to 5 urns, depending on urn size.
• Smaller Plot (2’6” x 3’): Accommodates up to 3 urns, depending on urn size.

Interment Information

• Interments are carried out Monday to Friday, between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
• A minimum of seven clear working days’ notice is required before the date of the interment.
• Please contact the Cemeteries Office to check availability and book the interment once a date and time has been decided.

Required Documentation

• A completed Interment form
• The Cremated Remains Certificate

These documents must be submitted to the Cemeteries Office to confirm your booking.

Memorials

If a memorial is currently in place and may obstruct the interment, it must be removed prior to the interment. This is the responsibility of the family or person arranging the interment. A registered memorial mason should carry out the removal. Please ensure this is done in advance to avoid delays.

Fees and Payment

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive instructions on how to make payment. Please note that payment is required before the day of the interment.
On the Day of the Interment

• Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the scheduled time to allow our team to prepare the site.
• A member of our staff and the grave digger will be present and can assist as needed.
• The grave will be backfilled in your presence, should you wish to remain and place flowers, or alternatively, once you have departed.
