Greenhouse gas emissions
Councils in England are required by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to measure and report on their Greenhouse Gas Emissions from their own estate and operations.
Runnymede Borough Council's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report for 2019/2020 achieved a reduction from 2,951.38 tonnes CO2e (baseline taken in 2009/2009) to 1,330.77 tonnes CO2e - a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations.
We have bid for funds to support a low carbon LED lighting scheme in some of our operational properties to replace existing lighting and hopes to receive further funding to identify other projects to reduce carbon emissions across its own estate and operations.
