Runnymede Borough Council is seeking people to join its Independent Remuneration Panel, which examines and makes recommendations regarding the allowances paid to Runnymede Councillors and co-opted members of the Council.
We are looking for conscientious people who live or work in Runnymede and would like to influence the way Councillors are reimbursed for their public service. Knowledge/experience of Local Government is essential as is political impartiality.
The Independent Remuneration Panel will consist of six Members who will represent residents' associations, business sector (x 2), voluntary sector, education sector and health sector.
Residents' Associations are invited to put forward candidates to represent them on the Panel for consideration.
Please note that the following persons are unable to be appointed as Members of the Independent Remuneration Panel:
1. Employees of Runnymede Borough Council;
2. A person who is also a member of an authority in respect of which it makes recommendations or is a member of a committee or sub-committee of such an authority; or
3. A person who is disqualified from being or becoming an elected member of a local authority.
The Panel is likely to meet on 3-4 occasions from September 2018 - January 2019 at the Council Offices in Addlestone and reasonable travelling and subsistence expenses will be paid plus a special one-off payment of £500. The Panel meetings are normally held in the daytime.
