Home Improvement Loan Scheme

Homeowners who are elderly or have a disability can apply for a low cost loan to fund essential repairs, improvements and adaptations.

Loans from £1,000 to £100,000 are available for people who could not otherwise afford the works.

We also provide support and guidance to see the improvements through from start to finish. We can help you find a reliable contractor and once the work is complete, we can arrange a final inspection to make sure you are satisfied.

The loan is provided by Parity Trust and we subsidise it to guarantee a low interest rate, fixed for the term of your loan.

The work must be considered essential, such as a leaking roof or electrical re-wiring to make your home safe. We will assess the work you want to do and tell you if it qualifies.

The homeowner must:

  • be over 70 or have a disability; and
  • receive means tested benefits or be unable to fund the works privately.
