Are you a Council tenant?

Find information on your tenancy agreement, paying your rent, reporting repairs, moving house and buying your council home.

We are writing to every tenant as it is very important that we keep our records about your tenancy up-to-date.
If you have any queries about your tenancy, rent or community, our Housing & Neighbourhood Service is here to help.
You have the right to enjoy your home in peace, quiet and safety. If you are experiencing inconsiderate behaviour from neighbours, there are several steps you can take. If the person causing the nuisance is a council tenant, our tenancy management team can also support you.
If you want to move home, you could apply to transfer to an available council property. You could also agree to swap homes with another council tenant, this is called mutual exchange.
If you are a council tenant you may be able to buy your home from us at a discounted price under the Right to Buy scheme.
For both tenants and non-tenants the charge to rent a garage is £15 per week. Payment for garage rent is four weeks in advance by direct debit.
Over the next year, all homes will be visited by a member of the Tenancy Audit and Enforcement team as part of the Council's tenancy audit. This is to establish that the property is not wholly let or sublet, and to ensure it is being looked after in accordance with the Tenancy Agreement.
