Freedom of the Borough Ceremony

Wednesday 14 June saw the Freedom of the Borough ceremony take place at Runnymede Civic Centre.

The ceremony, hosted by the Mayor, Cllr Iftikhar Chaudhri and Chief Executive, Paul Turrell, saw two people receive the Honorary Freeman of the Borough award.

Geoffrey Bertram Woodger has been presented this award for his dedicated commitment of 24 years public service as a Ward Member including time as the Mayor and the Leader of the Council.

John Marshall Edwards has been presented this award for his selfless public service commitment of over 32 years as a Ward Member and his time as Deputy Leader of the Council.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were Deputy Lord Lieutenant Nick Wood-Dow and Cllr Tony Samuels, Vice Chairman Surrey County Council, Past Mayors, previous Honorary Freeman, along with Councillors, Executive Officers and the friends and family of the two recipients.
