River Celebration Festival 2018

Find out what's going on during the River Festival Celebration 2018.


Runnymede Borough Council is excited to announce that planning has started for the 2018 River Celebration Festival which aims to celebrate all things river related.

We will be working with a range of partners to celebrate the rivers which run through our borough. There will be a range of activities throughout the year for you to go to, experiencing the fantastic activities, sport and culture that our community has to offer. There will also be one-off events put on especially for the Festival.River

From regattas to exhibitions and pond dipping to river walks - there will be something for everyone.



Monday, 8 January, to Friday, 16 February - River Celebration t-shirt competition. Would you be able to design a t-shirt for the River Celebration? Please send you designs to Suzanne Stronge at before 16 February.


Launch of the River Exhibition with a Talk by Emma Warren (Curator at the Chertsey Museum) and the first showing of the Runnymede River film at Chertsey Museum.

Saturday, 24 March - Forest Estate Community Hub River Themed Spring Fayre, noon to 3pm

Monday, 7 May (Bank Holiday) - Runnymede Flotilla

Saturday, 26 May - Frogs Island Fair, 11am to 5pm at Pooley Green Recreation Ground

Tuesday ,19 June - Singing Picnics with river-themed songs for invited local schools, Runnymede Pleasure Grounds


Saturday, 7 July  - Black Cherry Fair, the Runnymede River film on the big screen

Tuesday, 31 July - Summer River Dipping at Chertsey Museum

Saturday, 11 August, and Sunday, 12 August - Chertsey Show, the Runnymede River film on the big screen

Monday, 25 September - River Walk for Living Well Week starts at 10am at Manor Farm Centre


Monday, 5 November, to Friday, 16 November - Junior Citizen for year 6 pupils with safety sets including a 10 minute talk from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Thorpe Park
