What is Sports Development?
Sports Development aims to provide a variety of sporting opportunities, in addition to those that are already in existence, and provide pathways to make it easier for people of all standards to participate in all sports.
Most experiences of sport begin at school and are subsequently developed throughout the educational system, from infant school to university. The work of a Sports Development Officer involves providing their local community with opportunities to build on the initial foundations, regardless of age, race, gender or ability. These opportunities aim to encourage involvement in sport through participation, coaching, volunteering and / or supporting in a spectator role.
Sports Development in Runnymede involves your local Borough working in partnership with Active Surrey, leisure centres, schools, clubs, coaches, volunteers and you, in order to cater for the needs and interests of the sporting community.
