EMERGENCIES

All local authorities are required to complete emergency plans to deal with civil contingencies. These are available here.

In an emergency accurate reliable information is vital and in Surrey all the agencies involved have created a web site; SurreyAlert.info.

This site would be kept up to date with relevant information during an emergency and has been designed to be resilient during an incident. It proved its worth during flooding incidents in The Borough when all through the incidents it contained up to date situation reports.

In an emergency The Borough response would be coordinated from the Safer Runnymede care and control centre. Fortunately the likelihood of an incident of a scale to necessitate putting the plan in to operation is very low but key staff receives regular training in their roles.

The Surrey Community Risk Register has been published by the Surrey Local Resilience Forum. It is to provide public information about the hazards that exist within the county and the control measures that are in place to mitigate their impact. The register has been published in response to the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
