Tenant participation

Are you a Runnymede Tenant?

Do you belong to a tenants group?

If not would you like to?

Even better, would you and your neighbours like to set one up?

A number of groups already exist, covering various estates, schemes or areas of the Borough.

These include:-

Surrey Towers, Addlestone

Middlesex Court, Addlestone

Lane Close, Addlestone

Heatherfields Sheltered Housing Scheme, New Haw

Bowes Road/Wapshott Road, Staines

Sandhills Court, Virginia Water

Local groups meet regularly with Council Officers to discuss various local issues, estate improvements and improvements to the service generally.

These groups also nominate representatives to the Runnymede Council Residents' Association, (RCRA), which looks at the wider picture and forms a vital role in the Council’s Tenant Participation Strategy.

Meetings of the RCRA are held approximately ten times a year and are arranged to enable draft Council agendas to be considered, ahead of meetings of the Housing & Community Services Committee. In this way, the RCRA has the opportunity to genuinely influence the Council’s decision making process.

The Council believes that if services are to improve to the level we all aspire to, then the involvement of residents is vital.

To this end, grants of up to £1,000 are being given to residents groups, to cover training and running costs.
