Welcome to Sayes Court Allotments
Location:
Situated off Brookhurst Close in Addlestone, (next to the playing fields).
Site:
The allotments are owned by Runnymede Borough Council but are run under license by the Sayes Court Allotment Association who are responsible for the day to day running of the site and the setting and collection of all plot rents.
The rents are agreed in January of each year by members attending our AGM and are currently the lowest in the Borough with members over 60 years old paying approximately 50% of the normal rate. Rents for 2008 have been set at £24 per year per plot with over 60's paying £14. A limited number of greenhouses are also available at £15 per year.
The day to day running of the site is carried out by a committee elected at the AGM and working parties are organised a couple of times per year to maintain tidiness. The elected officers of the committee are the Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman, you will be introduced to them on site. If at any time you need advice or assistance all you need to do is to contact any committee member who will be only too pleased to help. You will be given a copy of our Covenant which includes a number of very simple rules you will be expected to abide by at all times.
The association also provides benefits to members which include the hire at a nominal charge of mowers, strimmers, cultivators and other tools. A variety of forks, spades and hoes are also available at reasonable prices. Manure and Wood Chippings are delivered weekly to the site on a first come first served basis at no charge.
If plots are not cultivated and maintained to an acceptable standard then a 4 week warning letter is issued and if there is not significant improvement then the committee may terminate the tenancy with no refund. If you are unwell or having difficulties with the plot then please let us know.
The outer gate is protected by a combination padlock and you will be supplied with the numbers. It is absolutely critical that if you open the lock you must close it afterwards and scramble the numbers. If you are the last person on site then you must lock the main gate and again scramble the numbers.
We hope you have an enjoyable stay with us and that you don't find the work is too backbreaking, (it soon goes away!). Don't forget, any advice or assistance please ask.
