Carer support

Runnymede Care Assistant Scheme (formerly Crossroads) offers support to Carers of both physically and mentally disabled dependants; to the Carers of older people, frail and the terminally ill. The dependant may be a young severely disabled child or a very sick older parent. Age and disability are of no consequence. Runnymede Care Assistant Scheme responds to the request of the Carer. The Care Assistants are trained to take over the duties of caring for the disabled person, to enable the Carer to take a well-earned break. Most care is provided on a regular basis enabling the care assistant to build up a relationship with the family, but they can also respond to emergency needs. There is no charge to the family, but donations to the scheme are always appreciated.

There are also two new services – Overnight Service offering care in the home for up to 48 hours. While the carer has a short break the adult being cared for will have the least possible disruption to their normal routine. They will probably find it easier to cope in familiar surrounds with their usual aids. Assisted Activities – An assistant is able to ease the pressure on carers by taking the adult they care for to activities or appointments.

The only charge for this service is for out of pocket expenses to cover meals taken outside the home or admission tickets for activities. Why not give Runnymede Care Assistant Scheme a call to talk over how this service could help you.
