Licence summary
If you are planning to collect money or other goods (including Direct Debit sign-ups) going from house to house to raise money for a charity and/or one of the charitable purposes as defined by the Charities Act 2006, you will usually need to have a House to House Collections Licence, and official personal identification badges issued by the Home Office, for which there is a small charge, available on application to the Stationery Office, once a licence has been granted and issued.

No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority within a reasonable period, please contact it. You can do this online if you applied through the UK Welcomes service or use the contact details below.

These forms have been updated in accordance with the Charities Act 2006 (Commencement Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4, Transitional Provisions and Savings Orders) 2007 and 2008.

Failed Application / Licence Holder Redress / Right of Appeal

If your application has been refused, you have the right to appeal to the Minister for the Cabinet Office. Appeals must be lodged within 14 days of the date of the refusal notice.
Consumer Complaint
In the first instance you should use the Council's complaints procedure. If your complaint has not been sorted out locally, you may contact the Local Government Ombudsman - an independent agent with powers to investigate complaints about local government.
