Licence summary

If you are planning to collect money or other goods (including Direct Debit sign-ups) going from house to house to raise money for a charity and/or one of the charitable purposes as defined by the Charities Act 2006, you will usually need to have a House to House Collections Licence, and official personal identification badges issued by the Home Office, for which there is a small charge, available on application to the Stationery Office, once a licence has been granted and issued.

  • House to house collections are where people collect money or other goods such as clothes and bric-a-brac for charity by going from house to house, including public houses and places of business.

  • Within three months of the collection you must complete a form telling the Council how much money you collected, if any money was deducted for expenses or for the remuneration of collectors/others involved with the collection
