Housing Advice for Young People

This page gives information about housing for young people.

Leaving home is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. It's not a good idea to rush into it or just leave on the spur of the moment. Ideally you should stay with your family until you can move out in a planned way. There a lot of things to think about before you leave home and we can help you to think things through.

Why do some young people feel that running away is their only option? (pdf document)

Further information can be found in the leaflet Housing for young people.

The Housing Advice Team at Runnymede offers advice to young people about housing options and support. For further information telephone 01932 425831 or e mail the Housing advice team;

Homelessness

Young people can also obtain additional information on homelessness by going to Advice for Young People.

There is further information about homelessness on our Housing Advice and Homelessness web pages.

The most important thing to remember is there is always help and support for you. We will always listen to you and try and find the best solution to your problems. We can't always provide accommodation but sometimes it's about helping you with the other problems in your life that may have affected your current housing, and by sorting them out with you, we may well be able to sort out your housing too.

Being homeless, sleeping rough, is not fun or trendy. It is dangerous and you are at serious risk if you choose to follow this route. We know sometimes everything happens at once and there is no time to think, but quite often it's about things building up at home and coming to a 'head'. Speak to us before that happens.

We will listen to you!
