Biography:
Paul Tuley enters his 10th year as a councillor and was originally elected in 2000 for the New Haw Ward and on re-election in 2002 was returned for the Chertsey Meads Ward where he is currently serving. Prior to this he was a member for the London Borough of Hounslow for seven years.
He has served on most of the committees over the years and for the past three years has been Chairman of the Review Board, also serving on the Planning Committee. Paul also represents the Council on a number of outside bodies including, the Investment Advisory Group for the Surrey County Council Pension Scheme, the Runnymede Association of Voluntary Services, Runnymede Sports Council and Chertsey Alms Houses.
Prior to becoming actively involved with the Council, Paul was Chairman of the Chertsey Chamber of Commerce, and served as President of the Rotary Club of Chertsey. His Rotary career extended to serving as District Governor for Surrey, and Hampshire and then holding national and international responsibilities.
Paul has a wide range of recreational interests, including, music, opera, and theatre as well as a garden to look after. Sport embraces cricket, tennis and squash but mainly these days as a spectator. His home in Chertsey is located in part of the estate that once belonged to Abraham Cowley, the 17th century poet and King's Messenger.
Whilst recently retired from the insurance and finance business he founded some 25 years ago which was based in Chertsey, Paul retains a number of consultancies involving charities and business.
