Facilities
All Runnymede allotments are fenced and have gates that are kept locked.
Water tanks are provided at all sites for filling watering cans.
Some have toilets and storage facilities and some have free manure deliveries, but this varies from site to site. Each site has a 'Representative' who has volunteered to be the main point of contact between the Council and plot holders. More details about each site can be found by making contact with the relevant Representative, details of which can be found by clicking on relevant allotment pages to the left.
Plot Sizes
Allotments are traditionally measured by the Rod, an ancient unit of measurement which equates to approximately 25 square metres. Most plots in Runnymede are between 5 and 10 rods (125 and 250 square metres).

The cost of plots at the self managed sites vary; and details are available from the relevant contact.
Renting a plot
The first step is to establish where there are vacant plots.
This can be done by contacting the Leisure Services section on 01932 425686 or by emailing jackie.evans@runnymede.gov.uk
You will be given the contact details of the relevant site Representative, who will arrange to meet you at the allotments and show you the vacant plots and on site facilities. Once you have chosen the plot you want you should contact Leisure Services again and they will arrange for the necessary paperwork to be sent to you for signing, see a sample agreement below.
As soon as this is returned and you have agreed to pay the rental you will be issued with a key for the gate (for which a deposit will be required) and you are ready to start working your plot.
Composting
The Council encourages recycling of green waste and in particular the composting of garden waste. This is not only good for the environment but also provides valuable source of nutrients in the form of compost for your garden or allotment. Composting bins are available from the Council at discounted rates.
