Our aim

Runnymede Local Land Charges Section aims to provide a prompt and accurate service both in reply to applications to search the Local Land Charges Register, and to Additional Enquiries of the Authority.

Upon receipt of a valid request we will aim to return the completed search within two to three working days.

We are constantly aiming to improve our service to you and would welcome your comments/suggestions. Please feel free to e-mail us on land.charges@runnymede.gov.uk.

Can anyone else offer all of these services?

1. All searches come with the statutory protection under the Land Charges Act.
2. All searches will be carried out by a dedicated and fully experienced land charges team, who offer an efficient, friendly and reliable service.
3. Turn-around time usually between two to three working days.
4. Free e-mail service available - email your requests to land.charges@runnymede.gov.uk. We can take your payment via debit/credit card over the phone or you can send a cheque.
5. Urgent searches - we can return searches within 24 hours for an expedite fee (see our fees section for the current fee).

Search submission requirements

1. The relevant search fee (see our fees section for details).

2. 2 site location plans (preferably Land Registry Title Plans) clearly edged in red.

3. Relevant search forms i.e. LLC1/CON29R/CON290

Search turn-around time

Our current turn-around time is between two and three working days, but we do offer a 24-hour expedite service if required. Our local target is five working days.

Charges for search and enquiry service

As Runnymede Borough Council is no longer the agent for the Highways Authority, Highways questions on the search forms are now being dealt with by Surrey County Council Highways Information Team who are levying an additional fee per search. This extra fee is included in Runnymede's fees.

Additional enquiries - the County Council will only answer additional enquiries (enquiries not printed on the CON Forms) submitted directly to them. Please call them for their current fees on 0208 541 8924.

Runnymede offer a full electronic search service, with replies on-line via the National Land Information Service (NLIS). For the price of an NLIS search please contact one of the NLIS channels (shown below).

NLIS - is a joint initiative between central and local government to provide an on-line one-stop-shop that will deliver publicly available land and property related information. It will bring together information currently held by many different organisations, including information by this local authority. One of the first practical benefits of NLIS is the availability of local land charges search services.

Local Search Con29R information – Access/Costs

E-mail Search Service

We offer a free e-mail search service. You can e-mail search requests into us and have the results e-mailed back to you at no extra cost. Search payment can be made via debit or credit card over the phone (to the Land Charges Office - 01932 425660/5662) or you can post in your cheques as normal.

Plans

Two copies of up-to-date site plans must accompany the search, preferably Land Registry Title plans showing the boundaries clearly edged in red.

Drainage

May we remind you that Thames Water Utilities have responsibility for drainage enquiries.

Personal Searches

As of 17 April 2012 a new Serve-Yourself Personal Search and Inspection Service has now been installed here at Runnymede for your use.  

You can visit the office anytime during normal office hours to inspect the Local Land Charges Register.

The procedures for searching and inspecting the LLC Register are shown on the Personal Search web page (details below) and there will be a copy of these procedures in the file on the desks in the Civic Centre reception/front of house area next to the relevant PC's (only 2 of the 3 PC's have this facility).

Important information

It is important to note, we will not be taking any appointments or bookings for these searches and you will not need to send us plans.

Also please note, as this is a complete electronic service it could at times be subject to computer problems as with any other system software.  Any problems will be sorted out as a matter of priority by our in-house support team.

I would also point out that if there is a problem with the software/service on the front of house PC's then this will also mean that Land Charges will have the same problems and therefore will not be able to, or have the facility to do the search for you.
