Stables, which hire out horses or ponies for riding or instruction, must be licensed under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970.

In addition to an annual inspection by the Council, a report is also required from a veterinary Surgeon or Practitioner Anyone carrying on such a business who is not licensed should apply for a licence by contacting Technical Services and appropriate information and/or forms will be provided. An initial inspection of the premises will be carried out, followed by an annual inspection, upon renewal of the licence.
