Runnymede Borough Council welcomes petitions from the public and recognises that petitions are one way in which people can let the Council know their concerns.

Anyone who lives, works or studies in the Runnymede area, including under 18s, can sign or organise a petition.

The Council will normally only consider petitions containing a minimum of 50 signatures. Petitions which contain fewer than 50 signatures will normally be dealt with separately as a form of correspondence with the Council.

If a petition contains more than 1,500 signatures it will be debated at a meeting of the Council, unless it is a petition asking for a senior member of staff to give evidence at a public meeting (see below).

If a petition requests a senior member of staff to give evidence at a public meeting of the Council's Overview and Scrutiny Select Committee, the petition will need to contain at least 750 signatures.

Currently you can submit petitions in paper format, and the Council also accepts e-petitions.
