Flood warning areas focused on communities
The Environment Agency has recently revised its flood warning areas for the Wey river catchment. Flood warnings are issued to alert people to the potential danger to life and property from flooding, by text, email or phone.
The revised flood warning areas are more community based and hence provide an improved, targeted flood warning service. Previously the Flood Warning Areas were related to long, linear sections of rivers.
The changes to the Flood Warning Areas mean that people need to use new quick dial numbers when they call the Floodline number. Floodline - the Environment Agency's 24 hour flooding information telephone service accessed on 0845 988 1188 - allows individuals to use quick dial numbers to directly access flood information specific to their area. The new six digit quick dial numbers are quick to enter and easier to remember.
To identify which Flood Warning Area your community is covered by and to find the associated new quick dial number, please refer to the map and table.
