Attendance allowance

This is a tax-free weekly benefit payable to those who are 65 and over, and have needed help looking after themselves for at least six months. If you are under 65, you may be able to receive Disability Living Allowance.

Disability Living Allowance enables you to get help with personal care - such as getting in and out of bed, or eating.  Or, you may need someone to help you prevent accidents in the home. Awards are based on the care you need, not on the care you are actually getting. With Disability Living Allowance you may also get help with mobility.

A confidential telephone service is available for people with disabilities, their representatives and their carers. Ring the Benefit Enquiry Line (BEL) on 0800 88 22 00.
