Health and social care

In Runnymede Health services are primarily delivered by North Surrey Primary Care Trust (which also commissions services eg acute care), Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust, and Surrey and Borders Mental Health NHS Trust.

Whereas Social Care services are delivered by Surrey County Council's Adult and Community Care Service and Children's Services. Runnymede Borough Council also provide what can be termed support services (ie Day Centres for older people, Community Meals, Careline (community alarm), sheltered housing).

Consequently it is essential that these council services integrate with other Health and Social Care services.

Various initiatives are being pursued to achieve this eg the Single Assessment Process which enables one point of entry to all services. In addition, the Council provide core grant to voluntary organisations also providing health and social care services such as Age Concern Runnymede, Runnymede Care Assistant Scheme, Runnymede Mental Health Association.

A Health and Social Care Improvement Plan has been produced for the North Surrey area (which covers Runnymede, Spelthorne and West Elmbridge) by North Surrey Primary Care Trust, Surrey County Council Adults and Community Care, the borough councils, voluntary organisations, community forums and other partners.

The Runnymede Community Strategy also covers Health and Social Care to improve the wellbeing of the community. This work is being led by the Healthy and Vibrant Task Group. Information and contacts for the work of the task group can be accessed on our Health and Social Care Portal.

In addition, there is the facility to raise questions and issues with the task group.
